Acclimation Guide
Prior to constructing a new Minneapolis deck, the decking must be allowed to acclimate for several weeks in an environment similar to where your deck will be built. A completed deck will be open to the elements, and the acclimation period will get the boards accustomed to those conditions. You would not build your deck in a garage or cover the completed deck with a tarp, so it makes no sense to do those things to the boards. Instead, stack your deck boards outside with spacers between every layer, allowing for adequate ventilation over every side of every deck board. A good acclimation process will allow your finished project to avoid problems caused by moisture-related expansion and contraction.
